Registering a business in Dubai involves three key steps to obtain your trade license.

Steps to Obtain Your Business License in Dubai

1. Initial Approval

The Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) reviews your trade license application and documents, granting initial approval for your business to operate within the jurisdiction. This approval allows you to proceed with the next steps, such as securing business premises.

2. Reserve Your Trade Name

At this stage, you must register your trade name, business activity, and company structure. Alternatively, you may reserve your trade name before obtaining initial approval. Dubai has specific guidelines for selecting a trade name.

3. Receive Your Business License

After obtaining initial approval, you must:

✔ Submit the initial approval receipt
✔ Provide a duly attested Memorandum of Association (MoA)

  • For LLCs, one-person companies, and civil companies, the DET will issue the MoA
  • For other legal entities, a Notary Public will issue the MoA
✔ Obtain necessary approvals from other government entities if required
✔ Submit a duly attested service agent contract (for civil establishments and businesses 100% owned by non-GCC nationals) if a local service agent is involved

Once these steps are completed, you will receive your business license.
